On April 10–12, 2026, a series of traditional Chinese landscape painting (*shān shuǐ*, 山水 – “mountains and water”) workshops took place at the Confucius Institute of Vilnius University, bringing together art enthusiasts and those interested in Chinese culture.

The three-day workshop offered participants an opportunity to explore Chinese painting not only as an artistic practice but also as a philosophical discipline. Participants were introduced to the fundamental principles of *shān shuǐ*, which emphasize harmony with nature, inner focus, and the expression of vital energy (*Qi*).

During the workshops, participants became familiar with traditional Chinese painting tools, known as the “Four Treasures,” practiced classical brush techniques, and examined the principles of landscape composition. The hands-on sessions allowed them to apply these concepts in practice and gain a deeper understanding of the aesthetic and cultural dimensions of this art form.

The workshops were led by the accomplished artist Qi Xiaoting, whose work reflects a profound knowledge of tradition and an ability to communicate it to contemporary audiences. Her expertise and teaching approach created an engaging and inspiring learning environment.

The workshop cycle consisted of five practical sessions, and participants received certificates upon completion.
