Chinese traditions are closely tied to the seasons, each of which is unique in colors, sounds, and aromas. In Chinese culture, the beginning of summer is considered one of the most joyful, productive, and energetic periods.  On June 13, we invited guests to come and welcome summer with the doors of the Confucius Institute wide open.

As every year, the Open House Day was distinguished by a variety of events, and this year we invited interested individuals to a tea tasting to experience the flavors of the new harvest and traditional Chinese instruments.

This unique experience of traditional Chinese music and the refreshing aromas of green tea was brought to us by two wonderful experts in Chinese culture. Composer Cuiqi Wang demonstrated the sounds of the unique Chinese instrument Gucheng 古筝 (gǔzhēng) and performed several instrumental pieces. Meanwhile, the secrets of tea and its preparation were revealed by Chinese tea expert and taster, Teagong founder Ieva Virbalaitė. This time, we tasted three types of tea: green, black, and white.

This year, our events seamlessly integrated into the broader stream of "Culture Night" activities, and we hope that these experiences inspired participants to seek new adventures.
