This magical autumn, we had the opportunity to immerse ourselves in Chinese art. Chinese calligraphy and painting are the key to the mysterious world of Chinese art, which can help us perceive and understand different Chinese cultures.

This is the third time Chinese artist, calligrapher, art teacher from Ukraine, Qi Xiaoting 齐小婷 [Chi Shaoting], visited our institute.

Over the course of three days, we held five Chinese art workshops, acquainted with the main principles of Chinese calligraphy, and had the opportunity to try unique Chinese painting techniques.

On the first day, calligraphy lovers had the opportunity to practice writing the hieroglyph of eternity and permanence 永 (yǒng). To become a work of art, each stroke is important. In the evening, we immersed ourselves in the world of Chinese painting and painted magnolia flowers, which are often associated with elegance, nobility and purity in the works of most Chinese artists, which is why the works of our participants revealed a gentle and refined aesthetic.

On the second day, after the calligraphy art workshop, where we wrote the golden autumn hieroglyph 金秋 (jīnqiū), we ended our acquaintance with Chinese arts by painting sunflowers, whose cheerful colors gave us all a burst of positive energy on a rather gloomy day.

On the third and final day of the workshop, we painted grapes, which are associated with abundance, prosperity and fertility in Chinese art.

The practice of calligraphy can help one to open up, relax and enjoy the process and the magical result of the work. And there is no longer any doubt about the positive effects of calligraphy on one's emotional state, the development of fine motor skills and memory. We very much hope that the participants of the workshop were able to experience this.

We were particularly pleased to see the genuine smiles and surprise on their faces when they were greeted with the unexpected result on rice paper 宣纸 (xuānzhǐ), which may have been a surprise to some.

We hope that this Chinese art-filled weekend gave those who attended a chance to get in touch with Chinese culture and encouraged them to continue to be interested in using these unique techniques to create more.

Thank you to those who participated and supported the artist, and we look forward to seeing you at our next events!
