The nameplate of Confucius class was unveiled at 24th of February in Vilniaus Mikalojaus Daukšos secondary school. Many important guests attended the ceremony including H.E. Chinese ambassador Liu Zengwen, represantatives of Vilnius City Municipality, directors of Vilnius and Kaunas schools, Confucius institute and teachers as well as students of Daukšos school.
During the ceremony, which happened at the same time as the celebration of Chinese New year, Chinese ambassador welcomed the guests and expressed his happiness that the number of interested of China and Chinese language in Lithuania is steadily increasing. The directors of schools also expressed their gratitude and emphasized the importance of mutual cooperation.
After welcoming speeches and unveiling of the nameplate, pianist Liu Jitao, together with his students played the first performance – “The Butterfly Lovers”. Later, the students of Daukšos School showed their knowledge of Chinese language by reciting few pieces of Chinese poetry as well as wishing everybody happy Chinese new year. The guests were fascinated by the last performance, where students sang a popular Chinese song “The same song”.
After official event the students went to various activities such as martial arts, paper cutting and making of Chinese dumplings. Moreover, the director of Confucius institute presented the opportunities of studying in China, while students who went there shared their experiences.
