Vilnius University Confucius Institute Children's Summer Day Camp has become a wonderful tradition. Here, summer begins with an introduction to Chinese culture and the most commonly used Chinese phrases. We are especially happy to welcome returning participants—some children have attended our camp for several consecutive years.
The 2026 Children's Summer Day Camp was filled with engaging, creative, and educational activities that allowed children not only to spend their time meaningfully but also to discover the Chinese language and culture. Every day, participants learned Chinese, developed their communication skills with our native Chinese-speaking instructors, expanded their vocabulary, and built confidence by using newly learned words and expressions.
The children also enjoyed a variety of sports activities. They also had the opportunity to take part in a table tennis tournament. During wushu sessions, they were introduced to the fundamentals of Chinese martial arts while improving their coordination, discipline, and movement skills. In creative workshops, they experienced Chinese calligraphy and explored batik, cloisonné enamel, and copper foil art techniques. They also made traditional Chinese knots and bamboo coasters, and learned about Chinese culinary traditions by preparing bubble tea.
Educational activities gave the children a deeper understanding of Chinese culture, traditions, and arts. They visited the Vilnius University Meteorological Station, as well as the University's historic buildings and library. During breaks, they watched Chinese animated films, explored traditional Chinese board games, musical instruments, tea culture, and the art of Peking Opera. The camp concluded with a festive closing celebration and a lively quiz, where the children had fun reviewing the knowledge and experiences they had gained throughout the week.
