With the first spring sun shine, not only nature but also human awakens. Now is the best time to take care of yourself, your emotions and your body. But before you start exercising, it’s important to know how to prepare for appropriate breathing.

Last week our lectures‘ attendees had a wonderful opportunity to hear about the benefits and methods of breathing in the lecture „Respiratory System and Breathing Techniques”, which was held by the instructor Liang Wenming.

In today’s world, people struggle with diseases caused by irregular breathing. We are currently living in a period of pandemic and, as never before, it has become extremely important to breathe properly. Thus, the lecture presented the human respiratory system and breathing methods, where we learned what therapeutic breathing is, how to strengthen the lungs and how it can all improve overall health.

The main goal of this lecture was to acquaint the listeners with the respiratory system, voluntary and involuntary breathing, respiratory organs and different breathing methods in general (apnea, conscious breathing, controlled breathing). It was interesting to hear about abdominal reverse breathing, which is one of the main parts of the therapeutic Chinese qigong practice. We learned about the benefits of hyperventilation, how diaphragmatic breathing can help prevent serious illnesses. Here, too, we had the opportunity to test conscious and diaphragmatic breathing with an instructor.

It is important to emphasize that breathing is one of the key aspects of Eastern practices and is also of great importance in traditional Chinese practices like qigong and taidzi.
